Inner and Outer Harmony: Enriching Summer Camp for Kids in Bengaluru

The Women Welfare Department, Bengaluru organized an enriching Summer Camp at Ananda Marga School, KG Halli, Bengaluru, guided by Ananda Marga Gurukula and Neohumanist Education. Held offline from May 13th to 17th, 2024, the camp centered on the theme “Inner and Outer Harmony” and saw participation from 45 children aged 5-11 years.

Camp Highlights:

  1. Art & Craft: Promoted happiness through Neohumanist principles.
  2. Storytelling: Encouraged a sense of connectedness.
  3. Yoga and Meditation
  4. Fireless Cooking: Fostered sharing and caring.
  5. Fun Activities and Games: Included the “Lie Trap” game to enhance moral intelligence.
  6. Learning PROUT Principles
  7. Environmental Awareness: Included watering plants with gratitude.
  8. Reflections: Kids shared their camp takeaways.

Neohumanist Education Summer Camp at Ananda Marga School, K.G. Halli

Dates: May 13-17, 2024

Day 1:

  • Introduction Badge: Participants share inspirations.
  • Yoga: Tree pose, Bhujangasanas, Breathing exercises.
  • Song: “Let’s Move Together – SAM’GACCHADHVAM.”
  • Activity: Importance of moving together for overall progress using stories, visuals, and interactive sessions.

Day 2:

  • Introductory Song
  • Yoga: Asana practice.
  • Concept: SAM’VADADHVAM – unity in speech and thought.
  • Discussion and Storytelling: “May you move in harmony, speak in one voice, and may your minds be in agreement to establish a better society.” Participants share their experiences.
  • Game: Spider Web incorporating the concept of unity.

Day 3:

  • Introductory Song
  • Yoga: Asana practice.
  • Concept: SAM’VOMANÁM’ SI JÁNATA’M – collective understanding.
  • Discussion and Storytelling: “With our minds put together, may we understand the importance of staying in the company of good people.” Interactive sessions for participants to share their feelings.

Day 4:

  • Concept Discussion: “Deva Bhagam Yatha Purve Sanjanana Upasate”.
    • Emphasis on equal distribution of food, shelter, clothing, medication, and education.
    • Steps towards creating a better world and its application in daily lives.

Day 5:

  • Introductory Song: SAMÁNII VA A’KÚTIH, emphasizing the immense potential of human beings.
  • Activities: Discovering the goodness and hidden superhero within oneself.
  • Discussion: Understanding how calming the mind helps oneself.
  • Concept Introduction: SAMÁNÁ HRDAYÁNIVAH – Love for all.
    • Exploring how love is innate and embedded in nature.
    • Discussion about positive and negative emotions.

Participants learned through stories, yoga, songs, and interactive activities, guided by the principles of Neohumanist education.

Key contributors to the success of the program included Avtk. Ananda Anupama Acarya, Reetu Didi, Margavi Didi, Manjula Didi, and Diptima Didi. Additionally, parents were introduced to Ananda Marga’s ideology and philosophy through their children’s active participation in the camp.
